About this item
Product details
This product is used to temporarily relieve pain from minor mouth problems (such as canker sores, sore gums/throat, or mouth/gum injury). Benzocaine is a local anesthetic that works by numbing the painful area. Most people who swallow benzocaine are fine. However, swallowing even a small amount can cause methemoglobinemia, and young children are especially at risk. Symptoms of methemoglobinemia can include Bluish-gray skin around the lips, ears, and nails.
