Machine taps are suggested to be used with tap collets with overload protection. Hand use is easy to cause breakage to the tap due to uneven force. Used with tapping oil can get threads and make taps and dies more durable. Suitable lubricating oil should be added to the cutting edge of dies and taps when tapping.
