Altra Women's Duo Zero Drop Comfort Athletic Running Shoes Black/Pink (7.0M)

Having trained and raced in the Altra Paradigm since 2015, I wanted something a little lighter but with the same comfort/protection. The Duo does everything it claims. It's super cushy/comfy, yet responsive enough to give you that extra pep in your step when you're pushing the tempo. The sizing was spot-on for me, compared with other shoes from Altra and other brands. I really like the extra depth in the toe box, which had been lacking in the Paradigm. No more crushing my big toenail on the upper. The width is great, secure around the heel and mid foot and wide enough at the toes not to bother my blister hotspots. I like the breathability and flexibility of the upper, which allows you to have that "no shoe" feeling. My one nitpick would be the tongue. It wrinkles lots as you're lacing up, so you definitely need to finagle a bit to get it smooth. But that's a minor complaint compared with how great the Duo is as an all-rounder. I love the vibrant blue/yellow combo too; it feels reminiscent of Boston Marathon colors, so adds another touch of motivation!

I did not expect to like this shoe. I tried it on at a race expo, returned home and ordered a pair. Very lightweight for the cushion, nice materials, dries amazingly fast. I really wanted a cushioned shoe for my long runs that did not feel so bulk and heavy. I do wish the cushion was a little softer, but it works. Love my Duos!
