I was sent this paper to try in exchange for my review, as part of a free sample program. I loved trying this Pentalic watercolor journal! I've previously struggled using Canson XL and Strathmore 400, so this journal feels like a step up and is much easier to work with. Painting on it is a smoother experience and my pieces look better and more professional. The paper handles water well, dries more evenly, and is very thick so there is no bleed-through to the back of the pages, or warping. The texture is good – not too fine or coarse. Slightly more rough than smooth. Paint lifts well and cleanly. The journal size is perfect for travel or small paintings. The pages are not able to be folded over like a spiral notebook because of the delicate binding, so you need to lay it flat and have both pages open even if you're only working on one. This is not the most convenient but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I haven't tried any higher-end paper brands, so can only compare to the brands I've mentioned, but I'm enjoying experimenting with this and having a lot of fun!
