We live in a 2 bedroom apartment--it is an older building and is solidly built, and we love it. The only problem is that it has it's original AC wall unit and when we moved in last summer, the heatwave triggered health issues as the AC only slightly cooled our place. We did not consider a portable unit until early spring when we hit the first warm spell. We started doing research and realized an 8000BTU unit wasn't going to cool more than one bedroom, Then we found a review of this exact unit. Our apart is 900 square feet--the door opens on a large liv rm dining area with a galley kitchen: the bedrooms and bath are off a 30 foot hallway . Showering made the bedrooms humid and running our dehumidifier increased the heat in the apt to a miserable point. MAIN POINT? The review we read of this unit said it would cool an open area of 700 feet or a large bedroom, With the use of small fans placed the draw air between rooms, this unit cools our entire apartment. when the temperature is over 90, we use screens to block airflow to the living area at night, and our bedrooms and bath stay cool. We absolutely LOVE this portable AC. As it is also a dehumidifier, we don't need to run the one in the bathroom when this unit is on. We live on a fixed income and have disabilities affected by summer heatwaves. We aren't allowed to put in a window unit AC. If you are struggling with the heat, this DeLonghi portable AC will do the job!

This A/C unit does what it needs to do. The UV thing I probably won't use but, other than that I'm satified with the performance of the A/C. I don't know why people are experiencing that the noise level of the A/C is too loud but, mines sounded normal. - This is my third Portable A/C (I was buying Generic brands, which was a mistake) and I hope this will withstand the hot days that is coming up in the Summer. - Oh one last thing, buy the 4 year plan to protect your A/C, I bet it will come to use IF this unit fails my expectations. We'll see.
