Kentucky Field Pumpkin is a beautiful tall, tan pumpkin with light ribbing and meaty, near stringless flesh. Brought by Elijah Dickinson from Kentucky to Illinois in 1835, this heirloom pumpkin is sometimes called the "Dickinson Pumpkin." This close relative of the Butternut Squash has outstanding sweet flavor and - a little-known-fact - Libby's canned pumpkin is actually made of Kentucky Field Pumpkins! The thick, dense flesh inside is both sweet and hearty, making it ideal for pies, soups, and roasting. Known for their excellent storage capabilities, Kentucky Field Pumpkins can be kept for months after harvest, preserving both their flavor and visual appeal.
