Covalent conjugation of the HIV-1 ENV to functionalised liposomes (Paperback)

In this book a new innovative approach was introduced, namely to develop functional gp 120-liposome conjugates which enable vaccination by the intrastructural help strategy. The main goal was the covalent conjugation of the HIV envelope protein gp 120 (UFO) to liposomes. The aimed covalent conjugation should be formed between UFO and 16:0 Dodecanoyl PE-, respectively DSPE-PEG14-COOH- functionalised liposomes using the activation chemicals EDC/sulfo-NHS. Liposomes were prepared and processed, followed by a physicochemical and chemical characterization of protein. Furthermore liposome-protein conjugates were processed and characterized.
