I like this square thumb tacks they were easy to push into the wood I was using and didn't hurt my fingertip while I was pushing. They do not lay flat but it does make it easier to remove when needed

Easily seen pushpins, Do not roll away.

The push pins are small but not miniscule. They are handy and easy to use. I have used these a few times to provide "feet" for a small recipe box that I use with cooking.
