Nutural World - Crunchy Hazelnut and Carob Spread 35 oz (1kg) - Great Taste Award Winner

The crunchy Hazelnut and Carob spread was good before, but had a tendency to separate. This last order seems to have solved the problem and the spread is now excellent. It's a shame that the old glass jar has been replaced by plastic, but I can see that it was heavy to send out and the plastic tub is more convenient. In future, I hope there'll be a jar that combines the best of both. But, for the moment, no reason not to buy. Well done.

When I opened the jar of the hazelnut and carob spread, it looked like a lot of the other natural nut butters out there. The solids were separated from the oils, so it took some mixing to get them combined. That's common for the kind of nut butters I usually get. The consistency was a little runny, more similar to almond butter than peanut butter in that regard. It was easy to spread on top of things with a knife and scoop with a spoon for a quick snack. As for the texture, it was a lot crunchier than I expected for a spread that is labeled as "smooth." There were a lot of little bits of what I assume were nuts in the spread. The texture reminded me of the texture of the peanut butter I make at home when I give up blending before it reaches that smooth and silky texture. I didn't mind the texture of this spread, but it was not what I would prefer when I'm looking for something smooth. The flavor was nice and pleasing. It tasted mostly of hazelnut, with a bit a little bit of carob and slight hint of vanilla. The spread wasn't sweet, but nor was it bitter. It made a nice addition to a baked sweet potato. While the spread was good, I don't think is worth the price asked for it, especially since it only has 5 servings. I'd much rather buy a jar of almond butter for half the price than pay the full price for this spread.
