I needed blackout curtains for the bedroom where an elderly family member often naps during the day, and liners saved me a lot of money. They effectively block the light, even on a bright sunny day. I had to cut some length off of them because my curtains were shorter, but that was quick and easy and doesn't have to be perfect as you won't see them. Definitely cheaper than replacing the curtains.
