A Permanent Fix

We had two pre-fabricated wood hollow-core columns on the front doorsteps that had rotted at the bottom from 30 years of rain and moisture. We (two old guys) decided to replace them with vinyl columns wrapped around 6 by 6 treated posts. We set the treated posts first and then installed the vinyl wrap-around as directed. It worked out well. After using toe molding (purchased separately) at the top and bottom, we caulked the cracks and painted. It all turned out quite well and made the front porch look better than before. We felt good knowing that it will probably not need replacing during the rest of out lifetime. Thanks.
