Expensive but worth the extra

Pleasantly sturdy as the yard is sloped to at worst 45 degrees! The instructions may say no more than 15 degrees but there was no slipping in any direction and keeping lines on a curved slope was doable. The controls are easy to use but I would like a separate on/off for propel-mode because having found the right speed, the only way to not accidentally hit a propel button and jolt forward is to undo the speed to “off” then have to experiment again to get that right speed back. The 5.0Amp worked as well as the supplied 7.5Amp, which was a relief given the completely different design of the charger (vertical vs horizontal). A nicety would be a bag-full transparent panel on top of the bag—so effective at leaf pickup is this mower that it fills very rapidly and there no way to tell that clippings et al aren't being collected any more. This is my fourth eGo Power+ and every one of them is excellent.

7.5 amp hr Mower Review

It's very light and easy to move around and store. It cuts as well as my gas mower did. And I don't have to deal with gas, oil, and a yearly carburetor cleaning. I really like that I can store it upright to save space and use my leaf blower batteries if needed; although we only ever use 1/3 of my 7.5 amp HR battery capacity to cut our lawn. So far we have been very pleased with the mower and the blower.

Saying Goodbye to Gas

Although I have only owned my EGO Power + 21" mower for a few weeks, I am finding it to be a true upgrade from my old gas mower. First, the quality of the cut is excellent, even when mowing through the relatively high grass I found myself in after returning from an extended vacation. The mulching action is excellent with no clumps of grass and the battery lasts long enough that I can almost get 2 full cuts on my quarter acre property before recharging. I find the touch drive system helpful and intuitive and was able to quickly adjust the pace of the self-propel feature to meet my own. I also appreciate the relative quiet of the mower while in action and have been able to hang up my over the ear hearing protectors since switching to EGO. Two other features are noteworthy: First, the ability to fold the handle and stand the mower up has been a real game-changer when it comes to gaining a bit more space in my crowded tool shed, and the single handle cutting height adjustor really saves me time over my old Toro mower where I had to adjust each wheel individually. The only small issue I have with this mower is with the touch drive paddles on the handle that engage the self-propel feature. Like other reviewers, I found there to be a bit of hand fatigue to keep the paddles pressed in with my thumbs. A few adjustments with my hand placement to engage the paddles with my palm made a difference here, however. Overall I am pleased with my purchase and don't see myself going back to a gas mower in the future.
