The duration of the disease is very uncertain. It may last less than twelve hours, or it may extend, with its complica tions and sequelae, to as many weeks, or, perhaps months; the greater number of fatal cases terminate on or before the seventh day. Cases are on record in which death has occurred within two or three hours from the time of seizure.
