I barely set this bed down before my dogs claimed it as their own. Before I could even get it situated in the kennel, one of them had already sprawled out on it like he paid the mortgage. The cover has a soft velvety feel that is comfortable without being overly fluffy. It also looks nicer than most dog beds and the black checkered pattern hides dirt and fur well. The cover is removable with a zipper, machine washable, and has waterproof protection underneath to help protect the foam from accidents and spills. The orthopedic egg-crate foam is thick and supportive. Once expanded, it held its shape well and didn't look flat or flimsy. It provides plenty of cushioning while still offering support, especially for older dogs. I bought this bed for our kennel crate, and it fits nicely inside. Our 12-year-old 14-pound Bichon and our 2-year-old 24-pound Maltese both love it and have plenty of room to stretch out comfortably. Overall, this bed checks all the boxes: soft cover, washable, waterproof prition, thick orthopedic foam, and most importantly, two very happy dogs.
