Sterilite 11.3 Gallon Lift Top Lid Wastebasket Trash Can, Black (18 Pack)

We're using this as a replacement for the diaper genie. The diaper genie was good while it lasted, however, at a certain point the diaper genie makes it hard to take out a full bag of diapers. This trash can is much easier. Love it! I just put a freshener in the bottom of the trash can.

I chose this Sterilite lift top garbage can for one thing: disposal of used cat litter. After a disappointing experience with a system created by a "genie," admittedly I had little hope for this simple, inexpensive unit. Using Great Value 13 gallon bags and Special Kitty Scoopable Tight Clumping Cat Litter (fragrance free), I'm pleased to report that once scooped, there is no odor emitting anywhere in my 450 square foot apartment. The lid does not snap shut to close tightly (it rests on the rim), but it closes well enough to not allow for odors to escape. Garbage bags are easy to insert and attach around the top of the can. The lid detaches for easy cleaning; in fact, the design that allows for such ease of removing the lid can be a detriment, as I have knocked it off several times while inserting a garbage bag! It's definitely not something I would consider worthy of a true complaint, though, just something that should be noted. Since it's working this well for yucky cat litter, I'm certain it would work well in a kitchen garbage can situation. Absolutely recommended!
