Crumpling a paper makes it heavier!

Also, the speed at which objects fall to the earth is relative to their mass. That's why, when you crumple a sheet of paper, it adds mass and it falls quicker. I wish I was kidding. My son and I tested it for funsies. To everyone's shock, a sheet of paper weighs exactly the same before and after being crumpled.

Fun, Hands-On Science Activities to Reinforce What We Are Learning

The Interactive Notebook collection from Carson Dellosa has been the latest craze in our homeschool! I am over the moon with this entire collection from the math to the seasonal activity workbooks, and now science. We have both the kindergarten and 1st grade science workbooks. My son is currently in kindergarten, but he only has a few weeks left, so I decided on having both grades, since there are a lot of activities from the first grade book that he can actually do now. There are also some more advanced activities that he will eventually get to in the next coming school year. There are so many fun learning projects included in these books. Each book has three units, Earth Science, Physical Science, and Earth and Space Science. Within each unit are plenty of subtopics to choose from. My child has a special interactive notebook for each subject. We use plain composition notebooks to put everything together, and I have found that they work the best for us. I love that the activities can help to reinforce lessons that we have previously covered, along with the new stuff that we're doing. The completed notebooks are handy resources that my son can go back through and look at on his own for a little extra refresher. There are also some handy extras in each book, such as the reproducible templates in the back. These allow us to create our own interactive notebook activities for our science lessons. If you haven't tried the interactive notebooking workbooks from Carson Dellosa, I highly recommend them, no matter what subject you are looking for...they are all wonderful!

Interactive Notebooks are great tools for differentiation!

The Interactive Science Notebook is an excellent resource for hands-on learning. It is a great way for young learners to organize information and apply concepts that they are learning in the area of science while supporting literacy skills in the process. This is an effective tool for differentiation as you work to meet the needs of individual learners. It provides teachers with great ideas to address specific concepts and provides open-ended activities to enhance student learning too.
