She went to Walmart, where she bought the MO, and inquired about her options: could they cancel the MO and refund the money? The MO had not been cashed. A lady named Valerie H was at the Customer Service desk, though that is not her usual job. Mrs. H was extremely rude and hateful, and completely refused to help my wife in any way. She would not even provide my wife with the contact information listed on the computer, so that she could get this situation sorted.
