Great knife at any price

I am a hunter and a camper. I actually use equipment that I buy and have been known to throw away good stuff that did not work in the field. I am not a brutal tester, putting knives or axes or stoves through trials that would never happen in the field. All that being said, I loved this knife and it sliced my steak as well as skinned my deer. It held an edge it fit my hand well, I was suspicious of the general shape of the knife, but found it a good fit for what I used it for. I bought two and gave one to my grandson who really doesn't appreciate a good knife, but I noticed his knife on his hip the last two times that we went woods walking. He filleted a trout with his knife and it actually worked well, and I suspect it was because I had sharpened the knife, it is not intended for such use as a thin narrow blade works best.

Large Trail knife with Micarta handle

This is a larger trail knife I bought for my son. I bought two different sizes for different occasions. This is a good size for large cuts. It comes in handy with a micarta handle. The quality seems pretty good to me. The knife appears sharp. We will see how it goes with the camping.

great starter camping knife

Good knife, like the upgraded handle materials. Micarta handle with an orange g10 liner. Plastic or Kydex (not sure which) sheath with a rotating belt clip for multiple vertical or horizontal belt carry. Overall this is a great improvement from the previous version. It is a homage of the Buck Reaper knife, one of my favorite designs from Buck. I think they have discontinued that model, so this was a good option for me. The handle feels nice in hand, a lot of grip. Knife has good balance, steel is 7cr17mov which is a Chinese knife steel with similar properties to 440b. Which means it's decently stainless with a good amount of toughness. edge retention will be sacrificed somewhat to achieve a higher amount of resistance to chipping or rolling. In theory this steel if heat treated properly should perform well for camping tasks. It should also be easy enough to sharpen in the field. All in all I think this would make a great starter camping knife, a great beater knife to have, or just a nice collectors piece as it is an homage of a classic design which is unavailable currently as far as I am aware. I'm pleased with the purchase.
