Ciara may appear to be an overnight success story but she has been grooming herself for the spotlight since she was a preteen. The Texas-born Army brat spent her adolescence in Germany, New York, California, Arizona and Nevada before her family eventually settled in Atlanta, Georgia. The ATL is where she blossomed as a performer; and as a cheerleader at Riverdale High School.

'Ci Ci' as her friends call her soon landed a recording contract with LaFace Records. She co-wrote the Lil' Jon produced debut smash "Goodies," which rocketed to the top of the charts. Ciara hasn't looked back since, touring with Gwen Stefani, 50 Cent, and Bow Wow to propel her 2004 debut CD Goodies past the triple-platinum sales mark in the U.S.

"Get Up", her pulsating contribution to the Step Up soundtrack has kept her front and center, readying her fans for Ciara: The Evolution (LaFace/ZLG). She's stepped up her game by co-writing and co-producing most of her sophomore album with Pharrell Williams, Will.i.am, Rodney Jerkins, Dallas Austin, and newcomer Polow.
