Handy and versatile

I purchased the full set of 2B, 4B, 6B, and 8B. They are a fun medium on their own. The woodless point provides good variety of mark making when dry and options for wetting and brush use afterwards. Also useful for underpainting with watercolors or other media. I like using 2B for light sketches for watercolors as the lines effectively dissolve as I paint.

Derwent Lightfast Coloured Pencils, Set of 12

I'm normally a Prismacolor user but these Derwent Pencils are definitely impressive! I'd say they're about on par with Prisma, perhaps better. I really like the pigment and creamy application of these pencils. I find that they do a terrific job with blending. I think the set of 12 has a great array of colors, especially for portraits. I will definitely be purchasing the larger set in the future.
