Goes on very evenly and covers well

I've used this with both brush and roller application. Either way it is easy to apply and dries fairly quickly. After it is dry it is a bright white and has an extra "tooth" which allows the wax to bond well. I found that it also makes a great ground for doing silverpoint drawings. The extra chalk makes it easier to draw on with the silver wire. Leaves a good solid mark. I'll keep using it as long as I can still drip wax.

R and F Encaustic Gesso

This is the proper base for encaustic work. Regular acrylic gesso is not porous enough to accept the wax. R and F makes a wonderful encaustic gesso that accepts the wax and applies smoothly. It is expensive, but it is worth it.
