The methodological approach was predominantly qualitative, involving direct observation and semi-structured interviews, with purposive and snowball sampling. The analytical model used was Herbert Blumer's symbolic interactionist model (1937). dↄgbe' children perceive illness as a dysfunction of the human body caused by a pathogenic agent, the source of which they are sometimes unaware.
