Great value and good performance

I bought this laptop as a road warrior machine and not any kind of fancy gaming or performance device. I did not want a high-end graphics card in this I wanted a cool running, long battery life with reasonable graphics, good resolution and low fan noise and didn't want to spend more than 1K. I waited for a deal and picked this one up when I saw it on their web site. It has a dark green color, which is probably why it was discounted and didn't bother me but once I got it I like it better than the black. So far so good as far as the machine itself goes. I will be watching movies and tv shows on it when away from home and that works well as well as doing web browsing, email, ms office aps and some video conf. I have not pushed it to see how long the battery will run yet but it seems OK. I have a powerful desktop machine that I use most every day but when away I just need to stay connected, and this does the job. The keyboard feel is quite good. (Better than many others I have worked on) and the track pad has is easy to get use to. The sound is adequate but nothing special, the screen is quite good, better than I thought it would be. No, I cannot drive a 75” screen in 4K with 7.1 surround but that is not the aim of this machine. It is also not crazy sharp like the xps with 3800 dpi but text is clear and sharp enough. I run it at the highest level all the time. I wouldn't mind a touch higher resolution though. The Intel integrated graphics has come a long way and quite frankly is good enough for 90% of the users IMO. Few people "need" a Nvidia 4K series in a laptop IMO. Also, those high-end cards run HOT with a lot of fan noise, and this one is pretty cool and you rarely hear the fan. So overall I am satisfied. There are a few things dell could improve upon. I really like the support assist feature concept, but it could be better and even more automated. Mine is hanging at 90% now when it is getting drivers, it should be able to diagnose itself and fix what needs fixing. Also, dell should make their own case or sleeve for their laptops. Yes I know you sell them but you should make a decent one and include it. Harware advancements will come with each year and what was high-end and expensive will be standard and inexpensive next year. I would give this 4.5 stars and it would meet the need of most people. I estimate this will get me 5 years of good use before I want to replace it with new tech.
