Team Jo-Jo

The Scope Stik 120 Phantom Purple has proven to be my go-to lure when pursuing the BIG (NMR) Speckled Trout that lounge along the rocks of the MRGO here in Louisiana. The color pattern on this lure presents a perfect image of a mullet feeding along the rocks. Anyone who has spent time on the water around the MRGO rock banks knows that mullet are constantly working those edges. When the Speckled Trout see that flash of purple and silver darting through the water column, it looks exactly like an injured baitfish trying to escape, and that's when the ambush happens. One of the major advantages of the Scope Stik 120 is its ability to dive into the 7–10 foot water column. That depth range is critical because many of the bigger Specks—the NMR class fish—tend to suspend off the rocks rather than chase bait on the surface. By getting the lure down into that strike zone and working it along the rocks, you're placing the bait right in the living room of those trout. When tight-lined along the rocks, the lure produces a deadly combination of darting, diving, and rattling action. With each twitch of the rod tip, the lure kicks sideways, dives, and sends out a subtle rattle that mimics a struggling baitfish. That erratic movement is something Speckled Trout simply cannot resist. Many times the strike comes right after the pause, when the lure suspends momentarily in the water column. That's when those big trout, which have been shadowing the bait from the rocks, decide it's time to eat. Over multiple trips along the MRGO rocks, this lure has consistently located and triggered strikes from quality trout, making it a dependable weapon whenever the crew of Team Jo-Jo & Oneofthepack heads out in search of Silverwonders. When the conditions line up—moving tide, decent water clarity, and bait around the rocks—the Scope Stik 120 Phantom Purple becomes a serious fish producer. Sometimes the difference between a slow day and a box of good trout is simply having the right lure running in the right part of the water column. For us, along the MRGO rocks, this one has earned a permanent spot in the tackle box. Good Fishing Team Jo-Jo & Oneofthepack
