Just don't.
Useless! Placed in a 40gal tank and used by ONE person it didn't even work for three days. I emptied the tank Tuesday afternoon and it's Friday morning and it's unbearable. Literally every other brand I've used has done significantly better. Honestly, using nothing gets about the same results. As far as breakdown goes, it's hard to say how effective they are. I have a clear hose adapter at the output of my tanks, but since there were only about 2-½ days for digestion, that's probably not enough time for any microbes to do any significant breakdown anyway. But I guess, in a way, that tells you what you need to know: No, it doesn't break down matter IN THE AMOUNT OF TIME IT HAS IN THE TANK. If you can stomach the stench long enough, it may eventually break down the waste as described by the manufacturer.
