The Oliver Typewriter Company Timeless Manual Typewriter (Red), OTTE-1636

This is a nice looking machine, and I had high hopes for it. I typed a few lines to get the feel for it, see if I like "hard" strike or "light strike," etc. I immediately noticed the upper-case and lower case letters were not in alignment, one of them was about half of a line off from the other. I did some research on YouTube to see if anyone had posted a video on how to adjust the setting, did not find anything specific to Oliver, but did get an education from reading how other units are adjusted. I decided not to try to correct it myself until I spoke with customer support at Oliver, but that is an adventure as well. When I called the number for customer support, I got a pre-recorded message which identified the number for what appears to be a larger corporation, with no mention of Oliver Typewriters. So I used the online contact form, but I have not heard back. Very disappointed regarding the problem, one would hope the unit would ship ready to use. I might expect something like this after a lot of use, but not in a new unit. Photos depict the offset typed letters, and the underside of the unit, with no apparent adjustment point, which logically would be on the spring mechanism at the reverse 'L' bracket. And as can be seen with the uneven letter imaging, the typing action is not consistent, re: amount of strike force needed to get a good quality letter image.

I am an old school typist. The machine is visually beautiful but the keys stick and there is no discernible difference between upper case and lower case “T/t, for example. Perhaps it is just this machine that is faulty.
