Not as soft as I was hoping

The cotton stockinette wasn't as soft as I was hoping. the weave is loose and breathable, but stretches out very easily. Also the package was slightly open, outer box said "repack." It almost looked used (like someone had opened it, cut off some of the stockinette and returned it).
