These kenken (KEN-ken) dunun bells are hand crafted by blacksmiths in Mali. Made of recycled metal using traditional forging techniques, these bells are imported to the Africa Heartwood Project drum shop in Ghana, then sent to the US. Because of the metal and technique used, each bell has a nice melodic sound quality, not as shrill and piercing as dunun bells made of metal piping. The kenken are traditionally played with dunun laying transverse and bell on top, with one hand playing the bell and the other playing dunun with wood mallet. Each set of dunun bells comes with 1 metal striker per bell, three strikers in all. (World Percussion USA is the ONLY authorized seller of Africa Heartwood Project instruments on this marketplace. All other sellers claiming above to also sell this item as described are not honest sellers, so proceed with caution.)

these seem like not good quality, not whats in the pic. the striker is very thin like a piece of wire. i wanted whats in the picture not an imitation. very dissapointed. the bells i received are silver, not black like in the pic.
