Ripjaws Rip!

I needed to upgrade my Dell XPS 8700 with 8 GB RAM to 32GB. Not that the system was slow, I just wanted faster boot up. The G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series attracted my attention on account of the blue Heatsink. I was a little anxious about the width until I inserted the RAMs into the slots. They fit perfectly! Not only that, they work like champ and more than doubled my boot up time. Although they've been running only for almost a weak now, I have confidence that they will give me long service. I recommend it.

Defective returning for warranty

Ran performance test 9 (free trial) and memory performed well. Ran Window Memory Test (part of windows OS) which it failed sighting hardware defect. Ran memtest86+ (freeware) from boot disk and confirmed defective memory and locations. G.Skill requires full kit be returned leaving me with no RAM to use my PC. I have to request RMA per tech support which requires I go without my PC and pay for shipping. Going thru the RMA process you are guided to go back to the seller for replacement, but this seller doesn't have them listed in stock on Jet.com any longer. And why would someone who just got a defect from the seller want to go thru the seller to make sure they get a properly tested set of RAM sticks in return? The reseller isn't going to test them before shipping. You would hope the manufacturer would care enough to do that. Had Crucial RAM stick fail in the past and they sent out a new RAM stick (used in dual channel pair) based upon my test results and before I needed to return the defective stick. Used the package with the replacement to return the defective stick with their prepaid return label. Once they received my return they credited my account for the replacement RAM. No wait, no time without PC. WIsh G.Skill took care of their defects with such a customer focus! You would have thought G.Skill tech support would have identified which sticks needed to be returned to keep me from having a $1000 PC depreciating without the ability to use it while they resolve the manufacturers defect.
