Karen Witemeyer does it again! As usual, I was drawn in from the first page. There were so many lovable characters, and I had a blast getting to know them. This was a one of a kind book, and I hope that this is only the beginning of a series with many more to come. No Other Will Do takes place in a woman's colony called Harper's Station. Emma Chandler started the colony to give women in need their best shot. When someone starts threatening their little colony Emma has no choice but to call in reinforcements.
There is only one man that Emma totally trusts, Malachi Shaw. Emma worries that bringing a man to their colony will scare the women, but this situation calls for desperate measures. And Emma has to make some decisions in order to protect those in her care. Emma trusts Malachi with her life, and knows he will do everything in his power to protect them. Only the last time she saw him was 10 years ago, and he didn't look quite so manly back then. Keeping focused on the task at hand isn't going to be easy with him around, but it will sure keep things interesting. Can Malachi protect them when danger comes knocking?
Malachi has a job where he finally feels appreciated. Able to support himself he feels more confident and doesn't have to worry about where his next meal is coming from. When he receives a message from Emma he knows he must drop everything to protect the only family he's ever known. He's not an overly mushy kinda guy, but Emma and the aunts are more important to him than anything in the world. Not knowing who or what they are up against he must be ready for anything. One thing he wasn't prepared for was how beautiful Emma grew up to be. Being around her is causing him to feel all kinds of emotions. Can he figure out who's trying to get rid of these ladies before it's too late?
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction. Witemeyer is one of my favorites, and I have loved every book of hers I've picked up. This book has the perfect amount of romance and suspense. And I also enjoyed the mystery of trying to figure out who was after them. I had a hard time putting it down, and know you will feel the same way. I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.
