This vitamin is so important for brain health, immune system support, strong bones and muscular function. For my fellow women it affects our hormonal health too (that was new for me). Vitamin D is something you want to get from the sun, but that is not something that is possible geographically for some or healthy to do even if you have daily access. Even your skin tone and weight affects the amount that you would need. Age can be a factor too. Doctors can run tests to see if you are deficient.
