Soy Beans originated from Asia where it was first known to be domesticated around 1100 BC. They Spread from Asia to Europe and made its way to the United States. The increasing demand in the Us for alternative sources of protein from meat made soy beans popular in the US. Soy beans are used in making: tofu, tempeh, natto, fermented bean paste, soy sauce, textured vegetable protein and meat alternative soy meat. Soy beans have also been used to make nut butter and have been used as an alternative to coffee. Soy Beans are High in Protein, Fats (Omega 3,6), Vitamins, Minerals, Antioxidants and fiber. Soy beans can be sprouted to make soy bean sprouts which could be used to make noodles and made into a salad.
