Igloo 50qt MaxCold Ice Chest Water Cooler with Snap-fit Latch, Blue

I like that this cooler holds ice for about 4 days...in order to increase this I bought some thin silicone gasket about 3/8 inch wide by 1/8 inch thick wth self stick tape and stuck it in the channel on the lid so as to seal any heat entering and cold escaping. I also bought some new hybrid hinges and clasp to replace the plastic ones it came with. And since I've broken the plastic strip that keeps the lid from tipping all the way back, I also purchased a pack of two stainless steel wire supports and placed one on each side. I've discovered that the silicone seal now takes the cooler to a full 5 1/2 days ice retention in the car during 90° days here in California and keeps any water from sloshing out when I lift it out of the car to drain it. Total cost with improvements came to $85.

This cooler is a great value. A fantastic cooler, at a great price point. It may look like the usual cheap cooler you are used to buying, but the performance is much better. The insulated lid makes all the difference. I took it on a 14 day road/camping trip, and it held ice for 3-5 days before I had to add any more, while being in the hot trunk of my car most of the time. No, it doesn't hold ice for a week, but, it didn't cost $500+ either. I can buy a LOT of ice for the money I saved. So, unless you have the need for a cooler that can hold ice for 7 days, this cooler would be great for you.
