My favorite childhood book made my grandkids happy

This was the first chapter book I remember a teacher reading to my class as a young child (3rd Grade). The author did a wonderful job with descriptions and word usage to allow a young mind to visualize the story as it's read to them or as they read it. I highly recommend this book for children first grade through 5th grade and for any parent, grandparent or teacher who needs a great chapter book to read with their kids.
