I love this thick yet soft gait belt that I use throughout the day for my 85 year young Mom, BUT it has one quality issue. There are 2 white nylon straps sewn across the back to help aid the caregiver in holding onto the belt. One of the 2 straps became unstitched as I was helping her stand up. My sudden loss of the hand-hold caused her to loose her balance a little and it was a surprise to us both, but I was able to quickly grab the main part of the belt. There is no warranty on the belt, and of course, the return policy ran out just a few days before it happened. It must have been stitched too close to the edge of the strap, and with everyday use, it became weak and frayed. I still love the belt overall but it's lacking in quality at it's weakest place, the hand-holds on the back. ** Thicker straps and wider stitched area (into a backing material) would be a great improvement. ** Hand-stitching won't be strong enough, but I think a shoe repair shop would be able to double-stitch into some backing material with the added strength it needs .
