Key item features

  • Striking Foliage: Features dark green leaves with thin, pink stripes, creating a beautiful and contrasting appearance, complemented by deep purple undersides.
  • Compact Growth: This variety typically reaches a maximum size of 2 feet in both width and height.
  • Light Requirements: Thrives in moderately low lighting to full shade conditions; bright light will damage leaves and fade color.
  • Temperature Sensitivity: Requires stable temperatures, preferably above 60 degrees Fahrenheit, and is sensitive to cold drafts.
  • Humidity Needs: Prefers humid conditions; low humidity can cause leaf curl, which can be remedied by placing the pot on a pebble tray with water.
  • Versatile Placement: Suitable for container gardens, terrariums, or as a houseplant due to its low light preference and ease of care.
  • Vivarium Suitability: Can be used in vivariums, providing perches and shelter for inhabitants, and should be planted in the substrate.

Healthy happy plant!

I ordered one of these in June 2020. Now, at the end of December 2020, it has doubled or tripled in size. Excellent growth! Some calatheas are super-sensitive, but this one seems to be a trooper! Leaves are a hint waxy so it is not as sensitive to humidity fluctuations as many other varieties. Mine grows in an east-facing window and seems rather happy there. It did totally fine all summer and fall without an additional humidity. This area stays around 50-70% humidity because of several open top aquariums. Once the winter heating kicked on, though, I started to see a hint of browning on one leaf (which is pretty amazing compared to most other calatheas). I've adjusted its location and turned on the humidifier for my tropicals. This little plant is right back to living its best life!

Looks great

Plant came in great condition with minimal browning on the tips (it is a calathea so that is expected). Plant looks great and I look forward to seeing it grow.

stunning plant

The white stripes in this plant's leaves aren't given enough justice from the photos, I was absolutely shocked and delighted when I received it, it's possibly the prettiest plant I have received from here (and that's saying something)
