This book is an important read in post colonial studies. It makes you question (%26 also provides answers) to anything you have ever known of the british/colonial empire, empire in general, cultural hegemony %26 literary legacies built to sustain them and does it in way that is understandable to a novice like myself. Edward Said is a genius who deserves a lot more appreciation %26 attention than he gets. The book was published in the 70s. This edition has an introduction by the author on its 25th anniversary. Also this specific edition comes with a forward by historian Ussama Makdisi from UC Berkeley.
