Disappointed with height

This ottoman isnt tall enough to be a leg rest at a sofa (I tried it at two different typically heighted sofas and it was way too low at both). I should have paid more attention to the height measurements but presumed height was more or less standard. Also, the hinges squeak badly when opening it, and it isnt the sturdiest.
