Blocks out the light.

I received the Maytex Josephine Thermal Energy Wrap Window Panels, Set of 2 free in exchange for writing this review. I live in an efficiency apartment in a senior community. My apartment faces our courtyard and I have 2 large windows that directly face the courtyard. The window blinds that came with the apartment are OK during the day, but when night falls it's a different story. The project has overhead lights outside of all the apartments that come on when it gets dark. I can close my blinds, turn out all of my lights and I can still see to walk around in my apartment. It's like having a giant night light inside. I realize the outside lights are for security, but they are so bright. That is why I chose the panels. Not only to save on my heating and cooling bills but also to block out the light so I can sleep better. The panels have Velcro tabs to help keep the curtains in place. That is a big plus. I have noticed that I do not have to run the air conditioner as much since I put up the panels. I believe that the panels are a good buy and do what they are meant to do.

Innovative Pretty Curtains

I got these curtains to be used under their regular curtains for my son's bedroom as the colors are crimson and black. They are unlike any I have seen before as there are slits toward the end of each rod pocket panel for the ends to turn to enclose the window. Additionally, there are velcro dots so that you can "lock" the two panels together so that less heat will escape into the room. They are also room-darkening, but not a total dark as they do allow light to filter through. The fabric has a very pretty slubbed look to it, sort of like a slubbed silk. They are supposed to be insulating, but they are not somewhat stiff like some insulated curtains. Right now I don't really know whether they insulate a lot or just a little. I like them so much I am going to buy some for my own bedroom to be used as liners under the curtain in place of the sheers I have now.

Great Curtains but not Blackout!

I couldn't wait to try these curtains because our bedroom is extremely sunny, and it makes it quite difficult to sleep during the day. Upon opening the package, I was surprised to see that they had a fairly nice appearance. They were not flimsy or thin like some other curtains that I have tried. On the back, there is a foam-like material that is probably to help with the temperature and blocking of the sun. The curtains were easy to hang and had a nice length and look. I ordered the black ones to match my comforter set. After I hung the curtains up, they looked great! The room was significantly darker; I wouldn't say that it blocked out all or even most of the sun. However, I would say that it made a tremendous difference. I am not sure if it is because the curtains are black or if it is due to them being blackout curtains. My husband and I have no problem sleeping during the day, and I have noticed that it does help keep the room cooler. So, it pretty much does the job. In sum, I would say that the curtains have a nice look to them, and they do make the room noticeably darker. I would definitely recommend them.
