Powerful window type cooler

I am using this unit to cool a pair of cold storage's. It initially had trouble since I didn't realize it has two thermostat connections. Once I found the second connection and hooked it to my controller it has worked great

Frigidaire FFRA2822R2 28,000 BTU

This is the third one of this particular model that I have bought. Absolutely LOVE it!! Cools the entire first floor of my two story house (about 2000 sq. ft. down stairs). Mostly open concept downstairs (den, kitchen living room, sitting room, front foyer - 18 ft. ceiling in the den area). The cool air rises to about nine feet throughout the entire area. I can tell because when I walk upstairs I can feel the upper limit of the cool air. HOWEVER - Be aware that ALL these types of window AC units now do NOT have the drain holes in the pan. You WILL get serious mold if you do not cover the unit during the off season and add some type of mold-inhibiting chemical in the pan. I just drill three 1/2 inch holes in the silly thing and be done with it. Quite a chore actually (weighs 152 pounds), but you have to remove the core from the outer cover anyway when you set it up. I manage to do it by myself (6'4" - 200 pounds), but very cumbersome. Really need two people. This unit is not really a window sill unit - it needs a dedicated external stable platform on which to rest. I used 4 cheap Walmart scissor jacks bolted to a 3/4 inch piece of plywood. Covered the plywood with a thick folded piece of tarp so that the condensation run-off from the pan would not delaminate the wood. Be sure to elevate the unit at least a 1/2 inch off the platform to allow the condensation to run out the drain holes (if you decide to drill them). Can't really say enough good things about this particular unit. Of course it's loud - it's almost 2 and 1/2 tons of REAL AC in your face. I don't care.
