BORING

I'll start out by simply saying, boring. Even though I tried reading another of his books years ago, Sarum, and found it boring I gave this a try because of the overwhelming number of positive reviews. Should've trusted my instincts. I gave up after just a few chapters, but based on those few I think he just compiled a series of short stories representing the different periods/advancements of London's history. Which would be fine, but his writing lacks depth, passion or whatever it is that compels you to keep turning pages. It's utterly lacking in that regard. And to make matters worse, if all the unnecessary commas were removed, the book, would have been, half as long.
