Substantial Griddle

The griddle is very useful. I leave it on the cook top all of the time to make it easier to use. I have cooked fajitas, salmon, pancakes, breakfast sausage and eggs. It's versatile. It's heavy. It needs to be oiled and front cooks a little hotter than back. You have to experiment with the temperature a little. For instance pancakes can be cooked on medium, then turn to low after you flip them. It's fun to cook on it.

Griddle for cooktop

Griddle's surface is very rough. Definitely not non-stick.

Yeah , about that -

First of all, I have to wonder why there is a warning (mandatory in California) that this griddle may produce cancer-causing chemicals. Secondly, I have had mine for a while and there were NO care instructions in the box, and I note that the reviews from people who clearly did not know how to treat cast-iron have been removed- I don't know if they include instructions now but not everyone knows how to treat cast iron. I do remember and this griddle looked like and acted like regular cast iron so that is how I treat it. It is a decent griddle and when properly seasoned, you can flip eggs on it which is the ultimate challenge for a griddle-but whatever the top layer is, it is too thin and eventually flakes off, and when I say "eventually" I mean after about 50 uses. Once more, instructions and cautions would have been great ( I do not recall there being a description when I bought it) and quality could be better.

We'd like to clarify some information regarding the California prop 65 and care tips for your griddle. The presence of a Proposition 65 warning does not necessarily mean the product is unsafe or poses a health risk. Over 800 chemicals are on this list, including wood dust, nickel (found in stainless steel), nicotine, and alcohol. Additionally, even inaccessible parts can create a requirement to include the warning. We can understand our customers concerns; however, we do not provide detailed information about what causes the Prop 65 warning to apply. Regarding your griddle, you can follow the cleaning and seasoning tips in the following article: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=000060643
