Fenwick® HMG® Inshore Spinning

Up until I got this rod, I was using a salmon and steelhead rod for inshore saltwater fishing. While it was great, it wasn't for all the techniques I was hoping for. When I found out that Fenwick had this, I immediately scrambled and got one. I was impressed by the construction of the rod with a full cork grip, modern 7+1 guide layout, and a double locking reel seat that was made for my spinfisher VI 2500. This rod is so strong, you can swing a fish over a dock without fears of it breaking. It's incredible on flats and I can't wait to put it to use on a kayak. I've found it to be excellent for “walking the dog” and “twitch” techniques, but can also swim a swim bait or a tin very well. It's great for porgy, sea bass and fluke. Only go with what the lure rating intends! Action is poor if it's over an ounce or under 1/8oz. I'd say the sweet spot is between 1/2-3/4oz. If Fenwick makes a MH or H action rod in 2pc, I'd get it in a heart beat.
