First of Two Wal-Mart Online Purchases Ever Done

This Blu-ray was on my wish list for some time, a few years in fact but there was a primary merchandise item that initiated both. The Blu-ray ultimately was a treat for me. First off, Silent Running was my very first movie I ever saw in a Drive-in back in 1972 when I was five years old and has since made a memorable, creative impact on me as it was a storyline that was ahead of its time along with the three faithful two-legged drones that were always at Bruce Dern's side throughout the entire movie.

‘Tween 3-4 Stars

For its time, it's a pretty good sci-fi movie. Great special effects boosted it from a so-so 3-pointer. The pro eco theme was intriguing. The acting was average. I'm a fan of Bruce Dern, but he seemed, at times, to overdo it. Maybe a second watch will help. Like I said, not bad considering it was from ‘72.

Classic sci-fi

The movie is almost prophetic about the environmental issues that are being reported in current news. While the special effects are dated they were the building blocks for following sci-fi films like Battlestar Galactica and Star wars. A decent amount of special features including feature commentary and documentaries. The only negative is the sound which tends to go large on effects and soft for the dialogue.
