Heshgod Enterprises Petri Yo-Yo - Large Slim Line YoYo by Brendan McGinnis (Green)

From Brendan McGinnis:I have always identified with and found value in the DIY ethos of punk rock, hip hop and skateboarding, so it only felt right to design and manufacture my yoyo by myself. I first started thinking about and doodling the Petri around the time I graduated college in the spring of 2017. Leaving college, I didn't feel like immediately going to grad school to continue studying physics or finding STEM related work so I decided that my best course of action would be to get a job at a machine shop and start taking machining classes at a community college. While taking these classes I began fiddling around with SolidWorks, and by the end of my classes had developed a rough draft for the Petri. Following further editing to the drawing, the machine shop's foreman produced a few prototypes, which I brought to the 2019 National Yo-yo Contest in Philadelphia. Afterwards, I developed the production model, which which I then produced at the shop, and had the bead blasting and anodization sourced locally.The goal of the Petri was to create a modern unresponsive interpretation of a skinny, large diameter fixed axle like the Pro-Yo Roadster. The design also takes inspiration from the RecRev Reverb in that it features an inwardly protruding lip in the catch zone that together with the bearing seat simulates the feeling of a high wall without a majority of the string friction that goes along with having one. The Petri also has a large flat cup for the application of large graphics of numerous types (laser engraving, paint, heat transfer etc.). I think that a lot of unresponsive yo-yos these days look and play really similarly, and the Petri is my response to that, to encourage abstract and unconventional design by making something that looks and feels different than any other unresponsive while still taking influence from yo-yo design of generations past.NOTE: There may be silver spots in the ano where the yoyos were rackedSpecs:Weight: 60.5gWidth: 27.95mmDiameter: 63.25mmGap: 4.7mmBearing: C SizeResponse: Slim 19mm
