Either I got a dud or this needs a ton more power to drive it

I paired this with the recommended Unity 100w amp in bridge mode and very little sound is coming out. The line-in source is the line-out from my MP 6-zone amp (which is only putting out 25-50w). By contrast the speakers from the 6-zone are blaring relative to the muffled hums from this speaker. Yes, I have the 100w amp at max volume. Left on negative, Right on positive (bridged switch set). My Klipsch Ref bookcase speaker get plenty of sound from the same amp. SO maybe the recommendation to use the 100w Unity is too little power. If that's the case maybe I should just get a powered floor sub and leave it at that. Thoughts?
