Product details
Rolling up your solar cover is now as simple as pushing a button! The Pool Boy® II Powered Solar Reel makes hand cranking your solar cover a thing of the past.
The Pool Boy® II contains heavy-duty aluminum tubes and non-adjustable powder-coated bases. The reel is powered by a remote operation system, with a low voltage transformer that plugs into any standard 115-volt GFCI outlet. The motor and transformer are connected by a 40' cable for convenient placement. The reel is operated by a handheld remote control that floats in water and is waterproof in case it should ever fall in your pool. 8" clearance to bottom of pole.

There are several negative reviews out there, so I was a bit nervous buying this. However, it has been just perfect for my pool, which is 15' x 30'. I have a 12 mil cover, and the motor quietly and smoothly extends and retracts the cover. The remote is generic, only using “A” and “B” buttons, but that allows for orientation of the motor/roller in either direction. I built a box to surround the roller and protect the rolled up cover from the sun, and I was happy that the radio waves from the remote had no trouble penetrating the wood from the other end of the pool. Build is solid, with no gaps in the housing as others had noted. It has made it very easy for one person to manage the cover on my pool.

It works great. One drawback - My old one started when I pushed the start button and stopped when I pushed the stop button. This one requires me to hold the reel button, roll or unroll, continuously, which is difficult to do while I guide the cover in the closing process. Otherwise, I would give it a 5 star.
