Sure there were a few dings on the wood. Like I won't be putting a few on it with use. The wood is good and solid. My husbands main complaint is no pilot holes for the screws into the wood. The first board had them but going into the next piece there was none. He had bloody knuckles before it was over and a very sore wrist. The finish on the bottom piece could have been better but it will just be covered by our collectibles and things. The bottom piece shows the union of each board to the next. For the price and how solid it is, it is a good buy.

The finished product is excellent! I agree with other reviewers though that assembly is difficult. There are no written instructions, just pictures. It helps to keep a photo of the finished product handy for reference. I also had to use an electric screwdriver in a few places where no pilot holes were drilled into the top piece, and as long as you're careful, using an electric screwdriver saves a lot of time. I assembled it myself in less than 2 hours, although it would have been much quicker with help. The only complaint I have is that there is no way to make the 3 shelves an equal distance apart. Not a big deal, but somewhat noticible when you use bins that are all the same size and height.
