Scarecrow, one of Mellencamp's best.

John Mellencamp's 8th album, Scarecrow, continues to establish him as a gifted singer/songwriter, featuring 3 Top 10 hits, R.O.C.K. in the USA, Lonely Ol' Night and Small Town. Also prominent on this album is Rain On The Scarecrow, a personal and heart felt commentary on the plight of the American farmer during the 1980s. Along with You've Got To Stand For Something, Between A Laugh And A Tear and Justice And Independence '85, the songs here are both a nostalgic look at the past and a glimpse of present Midwestern values. The musicianship is top notch as always with Kenny Aronoff's drums and percussion adding so much to the emotions in these songs. Scarecrow is more than just another solid release from this Heartlands rocker, it's possibly the benchmark of his career.
