Fun, inexpensive sailplane

I am really liking these UMX airplanes. I started R/C in 1983 and just burned out on the having to drive to a far-away field, the mess of glow engines, and all that. These I can fly in my back yard. When I mentioned to my wife that the DX9 transmitter had memory for 250 models her reaction was "Don't even think about it!" Well, I'll get as close as I can... At this point I only have half a dozen flights on the UMX Radian so far, but I'm glad I bought it. As the other reviewers said it is relaxing to fly. There were no thermals today (overcast sky) but I can see that when there are it will be easy to keep this sailplane aloft for a good bit of time. I did manage to get it caught in a small tree but got it down undamaged with the pole from my snow rake, only a small dent in the leading edge. At 66 I guess my depth perception ain't what it used to be. :-) I don't understand why others said it was overpriced. Considering the technology in this product I think it is a bargain and I'm thinking of buying another just to insure that I'll have one in case they stop making them.

Great little plane

Own many of the micro flyers but this on is the most fun to fly, the only draw back is a stiff neck as it will stay up for a long time. Just give it a little power once in a while to bring it back up and keep flying. Amazing small plane for the money!!!

UMX Radian - Great Customer Service

This little glider flies great but when I first got it, numerous times the motor would not restart in flight after gliding without power, even though all other controls functioned properly. Upon calling customer service, the tech support was eager to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase and sent me a fix. Now all is well and I could not be happier about how well this plane flies. I should also mention that with this plane I can enjoy this hobby in a broader range of conditions because I can fly it in wind that I would never consider flying with my other aircraft. I've been thinking of getting another UMX Radian as a backup but this one flies and lands so well and I always land it on grass fields, I can't imagine this little plane getting damaged if you are careful.
